Module 1: Being A Parent

Learning outcomes

  • Building relations & trust amongst group members
  • Understand the importance of (skillful) parenting

Module 5: Family Communication

Learning outcomes

  • Recognize the importance of family communication
  • Being able to foster an environment of effective communication at home, within the couple relationship between parents and children, and extended family.
  • Understand how parents can raise their children with skills for effective communication.
Module 2: Roles & Responsibilities

Learning outcomes

  • Become aware of and appreciate a parent’s roles and responsibilities
  • Being able to consciously address the needs of their children in different development stages
  • Understand different parenting styles and being able to make an informed choice on their own parenting style.
Module 6: Child Protection

  • Understand the definition and causes of child abuse
  • Identify who abuses children and why it happens
  • Understand the effects of abuse on children
  • Reflect on their own beliefs about child abuse
  • Explain the meaning and importance of child protection
Module 3: Time for ME

  • Identify positive family values to promote and practice within the family
  • Understand the difference between punishment and discipline and their consequences.
  • Understand the 4 components of positive discipline.
  • Being able to make an informed choice about their style of discipline.
  • Know how to deal with challenging behaviour at different development stages in an effective way.
